When senior Kruthi Ramanath qualified for the Illinois High School Association’s state-level tennis finals, she wasn’t expecting to walk down Uni’s halls to her song of choice.
In the first of a recently-started initiative by athletic director Kyle Hummel, Ramanath walked down Uni’s three floors to “Turn My Swag On” by Soulja Boy to celebrate her state-level qualification.
“It’s just a way to highlight them and their achievement that they did,” says Hummel. “And then on the flip side, hopefully it makes kids think, ‘Oh man, I want to be a part of that,’ and helps engage kids to want to do other things at school.”
