On Feb. 5, the girls basketball team won 31-27 in their senior night game against Calvary Christian, the tenth win in a season that graduating senior and three-time Most Valuable Player Chizara Onyemere commends for improvement.
At the game, the team celebrated Onyemere — as well as graduating senior players Eve Anderson, Antje Bollero, Cali Cooper, Sophia Deltas, Carla Lopez Lopez, Violet Moses and Chloe Noronha-Hostler and senior manager Annika Deschler — with individual walkouts, speeches and food.
Students joined together to host an ESPN-style table distributing headsets, ties and signs with players’ faces, in keeping with the customs of the popular sports network, with parents and faculty gathering to cheer on senior and underclassmen players alike.
“It was fun,” Onyemere says. “There was good energy. We had a good student section. They were very into it, and they made us play better.”
