If you have walked around the school recently, you may have seen the book drive donation boxes at the stairwells and wondered what they are. During an interview with Emma Tong, who is the outreach captain for Control-Z, she said that she was one of the main people who helped put this together. This book drive is coordinated by the Youth Filter Program, Cunningham Children’s Home, and Control-Z, and the books are being donated to the mostly youth population, ages 9—21.
There is also another prize other than the joy you will get from donating books. While this may seem like it is just a place to donate books, it is also a raffle, and you could have a chance to win a $25 Art Mart gift card along with a shout-out in the UniWeek. The more books you donate, the more chances you have to win one of these prizes, and if you want to win this prize the raffle closes Friday, Feb. 27.
This drive was made in order to create a chance for the youth in the home to have access to literature. This home provides therapy sessions and family help to children in need, and these donated books can help children have a better time in this place where many children grow up.
