Last Friday, the Moon Festival committee held the annual Moon Festival in the Green Space.
In many Asian cultures, the Moon Festival is a celebration of the autumn harvest and a reunion with family and friends.
Uni graduate Zhaoxin Sun first organized Uni’s Moon Festival in 2021 as a response to anti-Asian sentiment, says Moon Festival committee member and senior Renee Wang. The Moon Festival committee has worked to continue the tradition over the following years.
The event featured performances from Uni student clubs and dancers from around the community, with a traditional lunch provided to attendees.
“We really wanted to create a space that was really inclusive of a lot of people,” says Wang. “We honestly love the diversity of performances we get and the food we choose, so everybody likes it.”
