In the coming weeks, Uni’s subbie boys’ basketball team will be practicing for the upcoming season in Uni Gym. This year’s boys’ basketball team consists of fourteen subbies, guided by a coach that is yet to be announced. Uni’s no-cut policy when it comes to sports has been very effective in garnering motivated basketball players.
The general outlook is positive, with a dash of nervousness thrown in. While some have played basketball at previous schools, others are joining because of the no cut policy. Ivan Favila, a player with no previous experience, says that although he is anxious, he is glad to be able to play around his friends.
Despite different backgrounds and levels of experience, they are united in the common mindset of playing to have fun and form relationships. For some players, their motive exceeds beyond basketball. Ethan Mok-Chih hopes to gain confidence and have an opportunity to become involved in the Uni community. With a team of motivated and optimistic players, we can look forward to a great season (starting October 16th).
Good luck subbie boys!
